A Grain Place Top Choice!
Ingredients
- ½ C. shortening [Use organic butter; see “Important Notes”]
- ¾ C. brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 C. sifted Grain Place Whole Wheat Flour
- 2 ½ tsp. baking powder
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ½ C. milk
- 2 C. fresh blueberries (or frozen, partially thawed & drained)
Topping:
- ½ C. brown sugar
- ½ C. Grain Place Whole Wheat flour
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
- ¼ C. butter
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat until light & fluffy. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Spread in greased 7 x 11 x 1 ½ pan. Top with berries. Mix topping dry ingredients and cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over berries.
Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
Cut in squares. Serve warm.
